An Introduction to Moraira

Moraira lies in a bay, on the South Eastern coast of Spain, between Javea and Calpe. Its coastline extends for 8 kilometers with a selection of fine sandy beaches and the occasional rocky inlet. Moraira's valley floor of stepped grape vines stretches out behind the town until it meets with the green hills in the distance.

The town has pleasantly grown from a sleepy fishing port to an attractive holiday and retirement resort captivating both the holidaymaker and those wishing for a new lifestyle. Moraira is located only 75km from Alicante airport.  It still retains its considerable charm and beauty that attracts visitors from all over Europe and is particularly popular with Spanish from Madrid and Valencia.

Moraira has a good infrastructure, which is being improved upon all the time. Apartments are located in the village centre whereas the whitewashed villas are dotted in the hills surrounded by pine trees that enjoy spectacular views across the valley. Apartments for sale in Moraira.

You will find the main hubb of this tranquil town in the atmospheric cobbled square, which is lined with shops, restaurants and bars. The choice of bars and restaurants range from small Spanish paella bars to fine dining restaurants. Fanning out from here are pretty whitewashed houses and if you keep on going towards the turquoise-blue sea, framed by dramatic cliffs, you will come across the marina.

The yacht club of Moraira has 620 berths. It has a sailing school, clubhouse, restaurant and boat repair yard. The harbour of Moraira is still a working fishing port supplying fish to the local restaurants.

The Ifach golf course is situated in Moraira, a 9 hole course, offering spectacular views over the coastline.

The promenade in Moraira stretches from the Yacht club along to Ampolla beach, one of the four blue flag beaches. The 18th century Moraira tower situated beside the beach is a reminder of the days when the Costa Blanca coast was attacked by pirates.

Moraira's secret is the stunning little beach of El Portet, tucked away in a turquoise bay at the foot of a pine-clad hill. The sheltered beach nestles below a small promenade with pretty bars and restaurants with the village of El portet extending from the beach up the mountain, and is a much favoured place for private and secluded villas with breath-taking sea views.
